Fire

Fire damage at Bear Butte

Fire scar at Bear Butte, below Fort Norman, at the mouth of the Great Bear River

Fire is a constant companion along the river most summers. 1998 was a bad summer for fire. Some fires are fought, and some are left to burn. Most of the really large fire scars visible from the river have occurred since 1980.
